How to add a WhatsApp message to your calendar

So many plans get made in WhatsApp — a dinner, a viewing, a call, a kid's party — and then never make it onto anyone's calendar. Here is how to turn a WhatsApp message into a proper calendar event on your iPhone in seconds, with the date, time, place and phone number filled in for you.

The short answer

• Screenshot the chat (side button + volume-up), or Share the message straight from WhatsApp.
• Send it to Aide Calendar — add the screenshot, or tap Share → Aide Calendar.
• Review and save. The app reads the message and builds the event; one tap puts it on your calendar with alerts set.

WhatsApp itself cannot add anything to your calendar, and iPhone's Calendar app cannot read a chat — so without a capture app you would be retyping the details by hand. This does the reading for you.

Two ways to do it

Option 1 — screenshot (best when it is spread over a few messages)

1. Open the WhatsApp chat and screenshot the part with the details. If the plan took a few messages to settle, screenshot each.
2. Open Aide Calendar, tap the capture button (✦), and add the screenshot — or several at once.
3. In a few seconds the event appears: title, date, time, venue, attendees, phone number, notes and alerts. Review it, fix anything that is off, and tap Save.

Option 2 — share straight from WhatsApp (best for a single message)

1. In WhatsApp, tap and hold the message, then tap Share (or Forward → Share).
2. Choose Aide Calendar from the share sheet.
3. The message is read as text, the event is built, and you review and save. Images and voice notes can be shared the same way.

What it pulls out of a WhatsApp chat

• Who — the people in the conversation become attendees, with their phone number if it is mentioned.
• Where — an address, a venue name, or a video-call link someone dropped in the chat.
• When — the date and time, including "this Friday" or "next Tuesday at 4", worked out in your own time zone.
• Recurring plans — a weekly five-a-side or a monthly catch-up becomes one repeating event, not dozens.
• Tap-to-act details — call, message or WhatsApp the number back; open the address in your maps app.

Tips

Grab the whole thread, not just the confirmation

If the time and the place were agreed in separate messages, screenshot both. The app reads several images together, so the fuller the context, the more complete the event.

Group chats work too

A busy group chat that produced one event and a couple of to-dos comes back sorted — the app works out which lines are events and which are tasks, and you review them all at once.

Forwarded flyers and voice notes

Someone forwards a flyer image or a voice note about the plan? Share it to Aide the same way. It reads photos (including QR codes) and transcribes voice notes in any language.

Common problems

It read the wrong day

Usually the message was vague ("Friday" with no date). Tap the field to correct it in the review screen before saving — nothing is added to your calendar until you tap Save.

I don't see Aide Calendar in the share sheet

Scroll the share row and tap More to enable Aide Calendar, or just use the screenshot method instead — add the screenshot from inside the app.
