How to turn a text message into a calendar event

Someone texts you a time — and it never makes it onto your calendar. Here's how to fix that in a couple of taps on your iPhone.
Texts are where plans get made and then lost: "let's do Thursday at 3", "call with the bank Tuesday at 2", "dinner at Kinta, 7pm". The details sit in Messages until you forget them. Aide Calendar reads the text and turns it into a calendar event — with the time, place and the person's number — in seconds. No retyping.
The short answer
- Screenshot the message in Messages (or copy the text).
- Add it to Aide — the screenshot, or paste the copied text.
- Review and save. The event's on your calendar with alerts set.
Step by step
- In Messages, screenshot the conversation with the plan (press the side button + volume-up together). If the time and place were in separate texts, screenshot both.
- Open Aide Calendar, tap the capture button (the ✦), and add the screenshot — up to nine at once.
- In a few seconds Aide shows the event: date, time, venue, the person as an attendee, and their phone number if it's in the thread.
- Review — fix anything it read wrong, drop what you don't want.
- Tap Save. It's on your calendar, synced across your iPhone and iPad.
Prefer not to screenshot? Tap and hold the message, choose Copy, and paste it into Aide instead — it's read the same way.
What it understands
- iMessage or SMS — blue or green, it makes no difference; Aide reads the words, not the network.
- Relative dates — "this Friday", "next Tuesday at 4", worked out in your own time zone.
- The person and their number — the contact in the thread becomes an attendee, with their phone number saved so you can tap to call.
- A plan inside a group text — it pulls the agreed event out of a busy back-and-forth.
- Events and tasks together — "dinner Friday" becomes an event; "remind me to book it" becomes a task.
Tips
Grab the whole exchange
If the day was agreed in one text and the place in another, screenshot both and add them in one capture — Aide reads them together, so the event comes out complete.
Copy-paste is fine too
For a single message, tap and hold → Copy → paste into Aide. No screenshot needed.
Group chats work
A busy group thread that settled on a time comes back as one clean event — capture the messages where it was agreed and let Aide find the plan.
Common problems
It read the wrong day
Usually the text was vague ("Friday", no date). Tap the date on the review screen to correct it before saving — nothing reaches your calendar until you tap Save.
Nothing came back
If the message had no date or time in it, there's nothing to schedule. Add a time on the review screen ("…Friday at 7") and it will.
