Easy Notes — Terms of Use
Effective date: 27 October 2026 · Last updated: 27 October 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and SUMMERCLOUDE PTE. LTD. ("we", "us", "our") covering your use of the Easy Notes application for macOS (the "App"). Please read them before using the App. By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to them.
1. Relationship to Apple's standard EULA
The App is distributed through the Mac App Store under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These Terms supplement that agreement. Where the two conflict, Apple's agreement governs your licence to use the App. Apple is not a party to these Terms, and Apple has no responsibility for the App or its content.
2. Licence to use the App
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, rent, reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it.
3. The App, in brief
Easy Notes is a plain text notepad for your Mac. Your notes are encrypted and stored on your Mac only. The App makes no network connections and collects no data; purchases are handled by the App Store on your Mac. See our Privacy Policy.
4. Plans
Easy Notes is free to download. Writing needs a plan. Three plans are offered:
- Yearly: an auto-renewing subscription, billed every year, with a free trial for new subscribers.
- Monthly: an auto-renewing subscription, billed every month.
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase.
The current price of each plan is shown in the App before you buy. It is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase or, if you start the yearly plan's free trial, when the trial ends. All three plans can be shared through Family Sharing.
Free trial. The yearly plan includes a free trial for customers who haven't had one before, for the period shown in the App before you start it. Eligibility is decided by Apple. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the trial continues as the paid yearly plan and your Apple Account is charged when it ends.
Automatic renewal. Each subscription renews automatically at the end of its period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. If the price of your plan goes up, Apple tells you before the new price applies.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time: in the App, choose Easy Notes → Plans… → Manage Subscription, or follow Apple's steps. Cancelling stops future renewals and doesn't refund the current period. You can keep writing while Apple shows your plan as active, normally until the end of the trial or the period you've paid for. Deleting the App doesn't cancel a subscription.
Changing plan. You can switch between the yearly and monthly plans at any time; Apple applies the change under its own rules. Lifetime is a separate purchase: buying it doesn't cancel a subscription, so cancel the subscription yourself to avoid being charged again. The App reminds you when this applies.
Payment and refunds. All payments are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment details. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. If Apple refunds or revokes a purchase, the plan it gave ends.
When a plan ends. Without a plan, you can still open, read, search, copy and export your notes, and delete or recover them. Typing, pasting, cutting, undo and redo, new folders, renaming and moving need a plan.
5. Your notes and your responsibilities
Your notes are yours. They are stored only on your Mac, encrypted with keys kept in your Mac's keychain, and are not synced to iCloud or included in Time Machine backups. We can't see, access or recover them.
If your Mac is lost, damaged or erased, or the App's keys are removed from its keychain, your notes can't be recovered. They also don't move to a new Mac, because their keys never leave the Mac they were made on. A note deleted for good can't be recovered. You are responsible for keeping copies of anything important, for example by exporting each note you want to keep with File → Export as Text File… in the App. Exported files are ordinary text and are not encrypted.
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes.
6. Intellectual property
The App, its name, its icon and all associated materials remain our property or that of our licensors, and are protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms grant you a licence to use the App, not ownership of it. Content you write in the App is yours.
7. Disclaimer of warranties — "as is"
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every future version of macOS.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Changes to the App and to these Terms
We may update the App, and may change these Terms. The current version is always published on this page with its effective date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Termination
Your licence ends if you stop using the App or if you breach these Terms. You may end it at any time by deleting the App. Sections 6 to 8 survive termination.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.
12. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continue to apply. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with Apple's agreement and our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us concerning the App.
